Balinese cat. Balinese is a longhaired variety of siamese cat. The balinese is a long haired breed of domestic cat with siamese style point coloration and sapphire blue eyes. The cat is a strong medium coated feline that appears silky smooth to the touch. The coat on the contemporary balinese is of a silky texture medium length and lying close to the body. The balinese is also known as the purebred long haired siamese since it originated as a natural mutation of that breed and hence is essentially the same cat with a medium length silky coat and a distinctively plumed tail.

The breed arose as a result of a spontaneous genetic mutation in pure breed siamese that caused the cats to develop a longer coat type. They are also often vocal and rather demanding. The reason behind their long hair is the result of a natural mutation between siamese cats and long haired breed such as a persian or turkish angora.
